Wet Preview (360/PS3)

Besethda’s upcoming WET, which is set for a September 25th release, is set to make a splash with its over-the-top action, violence and stunts, and with a sexy main character named Rubi at the helm of this adventure, it’s sure to leave your mouth watering for more. We got hold of the demo which is currently on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live for some unadulterated bullet-time fun.

After a brief tutorial (which is nonetheless action-packed), you jump straight into the action, clearing out a large dining room of enemies with duel pistols and a sword, while wall running, sliding and diving in slow-mo. Enticing? You damn right it is. And the action only gets bigger and better from there, as an incredible car chase scene occurs (with Rubi on the roof of course) along with a Tarantino-esque ‘rage’ sequence, whereby the colour palette drops to a blood red, black and white, along with a drastic increase in body count thanks to an enraged Rubi.

There is some purpose to all this bloodshed. Rubi Malone is a mercenary, who has been hired by a rich business man to take care of some dirty work. When things go a little haywire, it’s down to Rubi and her two pistols to do the talking and the result shouldn’t be pretty, but it is.

The violence and gore look awesome, with a stylized look and feel reminiscent of 80’s grindhouse action films, along with a humorous twist, WET ups the ante by presenting a gory shoot-and-slash-‘em-up in one of the best looking packages this year.

With untold violence, guns, acrobatics, a sexy heroine and a great gritty soundtrack with voice work by Eliza Dushku, Malcom McDowell and Alan Cumming, WET is looking to be a fantastic ass-kicking entry into the action genre and is pulling no punches.

This game will never beat MAX PAYNE. All those developers that keep making games with bullet time need a bit of their own bullet time— in their ass!!!

Got my hands on the game… and first impression was definately WOW!! Its been a really long time since i’ve played something completely different! First impressions were a comparison between Strangle hold and a touch of Prince of persia… but then… i realized its totally in a class of its own…
I enjoyed everything about this game so far… the soundtrack, graphics, the guns, the enemies and really enjoyed the relaxed feeling you have while taking out 50 or so guys… :-)
Havent found anything bad about the game… i especially like the way she regenerates her energy levels! really great game… definately gets the thumbs up! (notice the amounts of exclamation points in this comment :-) )
