Speculation about a new title from EA has been in the rumor-mill since early December. Gamers were expecting a new franchise entirely, but EA have finally announced a revival of the cult-classic basketball title NBA Jam, which will be heading for the Wii sometime soon.

It was confirmed that Electronic Arts had acquired the rights for NBA Jam, and the title is in development at EA Canada in Vancouver. Little details are known, but it’s assumed that it will blend the old-school arcade gameplay with enhanced graphics, tweaks and additions.

Expect to see NBA Jam hitting the Wii sometime this year.
