Feature – Games You Should Avoid

The recent decades of gaming have given us some pretty impressive titles and some revolutionary games to play. Now, gamers don’t expect every game to be solid gold, but there is a cut-off point where games can become punishment. We have found those games, and compiled a list of the worst video games that you should avoid at all costs.

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) – Xbox 360, Playstation 3

Our favourite anthropomorphic hedgehog has brought us countless years of happy nostalgia with his memorable 2D adventures. Even when the jump was made to 3D, things were still on the right track with titles like Sonic Adventure and Sonic Heroes. But the little blue hedgehog’s next-gen debut on the PS3 and Xbox 360 was a serious cause for concern. Terrible camera issues, awkward controls, frustrating levels and a strange story about an interspecies romance, made 2006’s Sonic the Hedgehog borderline unplayable.

Imagine: Fashion Party (2009) – Wii

As awesome as the Wii can be, it has its fair share of terrible games and by ‘fair share’, we mean a lot. Sitting at the top of this heap of virtual torture is Imagine: Fashion Party. No one even wants to imagine this fashion party, let alone play it. If you’re up for unnecessary, mundane and pointless tasks –  Fashion Party is your game.

Eragon (2006) – Xbox 360, PS2, Xbox, PC

We all know, unfortunately, that most movie game tie-ins turn out to be less than desirable. But with Eragon, it lowered the bar in terms of what it even aimed to achieve. Poor visuals mixed with painfully repetitive combat made Eragon an eyesore to any gamer. Not even co-op could save this one.

Street Figher The Movie – The Game (1995) – Arcade

As badass as Jean-Claude Van Damme is, he could not prevent Street Fighter: The Movie from being a disaster of a game. This shameful fighter, which tried to ride the coattails of the 1995 film, turned out to be a horrible affair. Awful controls combined with silly visuals made from stop-motion animations from the film’s actors, plus the fact it was based on a sub-par movie, doomed Street Fighter right from the start.

It plays as dumb as it looks

Damnation (2009) – Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC

Trailers can make a video game look sublime, and that was the case with Damnation. The platforming and combat looked awesome, not to mention the edgy steampunk setting. Unfortunately, Damnation did not deliver on any of these, and turned out to be one of the clumsiest shooters of all time. Let’s just reminisce about those glorious trailers and screenshots.
