Valentines Day is just around the corner and as intoxicating aerial aromas go, love is in the air. Some of gaming’s favourite characters have had their own share of love in recent years and it’s time to take a look back at some of the greatest relationships, flirting and canoodeling that brought a tear to our eyes, or made us sick to our stomachs. Drake and Elena
Nathan Drake is one cool cat. He’s got the charm, good looks and wit to wow over the ladies and keep them coming back for more. We were all proven this notion as playing through Uncharted 1 and 2 exposed Drake’s alluring qualities that attracted the sweet, yet adventurous Elena, while also captivating the dangerous and mysterious Chloe. As much as we liked Chloe’s tough girl exterior, Elena is definitely the more fitting one for Drake, and their subtle romance speaks for itself even when the two have nothing to say. Some say man-ho, we say romantic.

Solid Snake and Meryl Silverburgh
Women are definitely attracted to dangerous men, and no one is more dangerous than Solid Snake. The Metal Gear star’s gruff voice and brooding stare could win over hearts instantly, and that’s exactly what happened. Right from the get-go, there was definite chemistry between red-headed vixen, Meryl Silverburgh, and Snake. Intimate codec conversations and awkward silences were only the tip of the iceberg of a great relationship. Talk about sexual tension!

Sonic the Hedgehog and Princess Elise
Whether you’d like to admit it or not, Sonic is one devilishly handsome blue hedgehog. Sonic has had a few flings here and there, the most notable being with Amy Rose, which was alright seeing they were both hedgehogs and all. But one romance that caught our eye was when Sonic hooked-up with a Princess in 2006’s Sonic the Hedgehog. The sight of an anthropomorphic hedgehog embracing a human Princess may have been a little sweet, but in all honesty, this interspecies relationship was a little weird and made us cringe at seeing the two together.

Dante and Beatrice
A man’s patience and perseverance can be tested by a woman, but no one more so than Dante Alighieri. He literally goes through Hell to return his loved one, Beatrice, back to the world of the living. Let’s just say, when Dante encounters Beatrice, she is a little ungrateful. Even though she was possessed by the devil blah blah blah, she should’ve showed her man some serious lovin’ for all his hard work. Even though it’s a little bit of a twisted relationship, we gotta give the two props for their loyalty and determination with one another.

Who more suited for a giant yellow gobbling head, than another giant yellow gobbling head… with makeup. These two couldn’t be more perfect for one another, as they both love eating orange-pill things, chasing ghosts and enjoying some repetitive rave music. And although Mr. Pac makes his wife take his name, he still allows her the time to star in her very own game. A match made in heaven.
