N.O.V.A.
Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance (or N.O.V.A.) is a first-person sci-fi shooter for the iPhone. Now don’t be hesitant to try an FPS on a touch screen, as NOVA has an incredibly intuitive control system, which allows players to look, shoot and move with ease. In the same vain as Halo, NOVA features big aliens, awesome guns and incredibly impressive visuals for a mobile game. With 10 full missions, it’s definitely worth checking out.
Split/Second
Hot off the release of the console version, Split/Second hits the iPhone with the same over-the-top action that has made it a hit. The iPhone version is not a watered-down port, and features a large variety of PowerPlays to take out opponents and alter the track. It even features Wi-Fi enables multiplayer, so you and all your buddies can blow up the racetrack together.
Resident Evil 4: Mobile Edition
One of the most highly-acclaimed games makes its way to the iPhone, and with great results. Resident Evil 4: Mobile Edition brings the horror and action into your pocket, with the full 3D environments, weapons and creatures that await you. While the third-person shooting is a little tricky, a slight auto-aim assists this and makes RE4 on the iPhone worth your time.
Assassin’s Creed II
Assassin’s Creed II makes its eventual jump onto the iPhone and Ezio’s story is explored even more. Set as a sideline to the console version, AC2 on the iPhone is a side-scrolling adventure filled with heaps of assassinations, beautiful backgrounds and gorgeous animations to go with them.
Street Fighter IV
One of the most realised games which take full advantage of the iPhone’s capabilities, has to be Street Fighter IV. The iPhone version contains almost everything its console counterpart does, and uses the touch screen interface as an arcade joystick and buttons. The visuals and animations are up there with the best and the gameplay is as solid as ever, making Street Fighter IV a must-have for any iPhone user.
